The Cost of a Craft Fair

What is the Cost of Selling at a Craft Fair?

Selling at craft fairs can be very profitable, but there are several costs to take into consideration when preparing for craft fairs and pricing your items.

Cost of the Booth at the Craft Fair
Depending on the size of the fair, the cost of a booth can range from $50 to $500.
Cost of Extras at the Fair
Be sure to remember the extras that you will need with your booth. Electricity, larger area, etc. These may not be included with the cost of the booth, and will soon add up.
Cost of Tables & Chairs
Some craft fairs provide these, but many do not. This is an important point to remember because having to purchase an item this large can make quite a dent in your profits.
Other Office Items
Business Cards
Newsletters or Fliers
Receipt Pads
Bags
Tissue paper for packaging
Credit Card Machine and forms
Signs & Banners
The little extras add up quickly!
Cost of Table Covering
You can use an inexpensive piece of cloth, or you can purchase an expensive table covering. Either way, the cost still needs to be taken into consideration.
Cost of Travel To and From the Fair
The price of gas is soaring! If you have to drive a large van 50 miles to get to the fair, you will need to factor that into your Craft Fair costs.
Meals and Extras at the Fair
Chances are pretty good that you will be at the fair all day. Be sure to include the food and drinks that you purchase.
Craft Materials
Another pretty obvious one. The money that you've already spent on materials as you created your crafts.
Your Time
After all the work you've put into each of these items, their promotion, and the sales, you deserve to make a little money. Don't sell yourself short!
