Prepare for a Craft Fair

How Do I Prepare for My First Craft Fair?

Getting ready for a craft fair can involve many steps. There may be quite a few details that can be overlooked, but may seem overwhelming when faced with them at the craft fair.

Here are a few things to remember.

Do you have enough crafts?

There is nothing worse than an empty booth. Try to talk to other crafters who have displayed at the show to judge the amount of items to bring.
Use the foot traffic information that was supplied by the event coordinators to help you judge.
It is better to have too much, but remember that anything that doesn't sell will have to be carried out.

Do you have office supplies?

Since you are doing business transactions, you will need to bring some very important office supplies.
Credit Card Machine - or cell phone for Credit Card Processing
Pens
Stapler
Scissors
Cash to make change and a box to keep it in
Paper
Receipt Pad
Bags or tissue for packaging.
Calculator

Do you have all of the Large Supplies?
Table & Chairs
Tent (if outside)
Signs or Banner
Displays (will vary depending on what you are displaying)
Table cloth or covering.
Supplies to create more of your craft while you sell.
Although this is not a craft fair requirement, it is often a crowd pleaser to see the artisan crafting their art.

Do you have your Promotional Supplies?
Business Cards
Business Card Holder
Forms to collect Contact Information
Newsletter
Sales or Promotion Signs

Finally, Do you have your Personal Comforts?
Food & Drinks for yourself
A friend to help you carry your things in and out
Comfortable footwear and clothing
Camera
A great attitude!

There are always things that are not on this list, but this can help you get started. As you atend more and more craft fairs, you will find several items that will work better for you depending on the craft that you sell.

Most importantly, have a great time. Customers will respond to a cheerful and friendly seller.
